Ensuring Business Continuity

Organizations today must take care to ensure operations can continue if a disaster occurs. Unfortunately, many companies do not have an effective business continuity plan in place. These businesses face costly downtime and possible closure in the event of a natural disaster or malicious attack. This is why it’s so important to take the steps needed to protect your business.

Disasters Cost Companies Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars Each Year

A disaster can cause IT systems to go down. While you can replace many of these systems , you cannot replace the data stored on them. This might include invoices, payroll information, or other systems necessary to complete daily operations. Without access to data and systems, employees are forced to sit around and wait, costing the company hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost productivity and lost business opportunities.

Companies should never take a wait and see approach to disasters. This will only lead to problems. Disasters can strike at any time, usually without warning. It’s crucial that your company prepares well in advance.

Disaster Recovery and Backups

Disaster recovery and regular backups are an important part of any business continuity plan.  Having data and systems fully backed up ensures you always have access to data, regardless of the type of disaster or situation.

There are several different types of backups available for businesses today. Businesses can choose to backup data in one or more locations. By having more than one backup, you can rest assured that you’ll maintain access, even if a natural disaster affects more than one location.

Anti-Virus Solution

In addition to maintaining backups, it’s a good idea to ensure adequate protection of systems from viruses and malicious attacks. A quality anti-virus program can help protect data and IT systems from a wide range of attacks. However, these programs aren’t fool proof. Attackers create new viruses all the time. It can take time for anti-virus software to catch up. This is why you need to implement multiple measures to protect your data and systems.

Data Resolution can provide you with the services needed to ensure business continuity. We utilize the very best disaster recovery and anti-virus solutions available today. Our services are backed by years of experience.

Please contact us for more information.

Importance of Having a Disaster Recovery Program in Place

Disasters such as fires, earthquakes, floods, or malicious attacks can put your business at risk. These types of attacks damage systems and files, making it impossible to complete daily activities.

Downtime is significant, as employees must sit and wait for systems to come back. Add that to the costs involved with locating the cause of the attack and recovering your files and you’ll understand the value of a comprehensive disaster recovery plan.

The right disaster recovery plan provides peace of mind for businesses. You’ll always know your data is protected and accessible, even in the event of a disaster.

Data Resolution offers two disaster recovery plans, each with its own benefits and features. Below, we explain the difference between our Warm Disaster Recovery Plan and our Cold Disaster Recovery Plan.

Cold Disaster Recovery Plan

Data Resolution’s Cold Disaster Recovery Plan provides an additional layer of protection for data. This service includes:

  • Server images sent nightly to remote storage in Dallas, Texas
  • Entire C Drive recovery within 72 hours
  • M:/ Drive recovery within 72 hours
  • Full back- up report sent daily

Warm Disaster Recovery Plan

Data Resolution’s Warm Disaster Recovery Plan provides all of the same features as our Cold Disaster Recovery Plan with faster recovery times and recovery to a second datacenter. This is a different physical location from where your main files are stored. Rather than just having copies of your files on two separate physical hardware devices, our service allows you to have them stored in two separate physical locations. Even if your home or office burns down and everything is destroyed, you will always have a copy of your important files.

Our Warm Disaster Recovery Service includes:

  • Server images sent nightly to remote storage in Dallas, TX and Las Vegas, NV
  • Entire C Drive recovery within 24-48 hours
  • M:/ Drive recovery within 24-48 hours
  • Full back-up report sent daily

Data Resolution has several years of experience working with clients across a wide range of industries. We understand the need for comprehensive data protection. Please contact us for more information about our disaster recovery services.

Understanding Disaster Recovery and its Impact on Your Business

When most people think of disasters they picture a catastrophic event such as a hurricane, tornado or earthquake. It’s important to remember that there are other types of disasters that can be just as damaging. These disasters can lead to the loss of data, money, and a company’s reputation.

In business, a disaster is any event that threatens an organization’s ability to complete certain tasks. such as problems with IT infrastructure. When systems go down, an organization is vulnerable to security threats, loss of information, and costly downtime.

Downtime caused by IT infrastructure issues can cost a lot of money. This is true even when issues are quickly resolved. When systems go down, staff must wait to complete normal tasks. Not only is the organization losing money paying these employees to wait, they also miss out on potentially profitable opportunities.

Disasters can strike at any time. It’s important that organizations do all they can to prepare for these events.

What is Disaster Recovery?

In the IT space, Disaster Recovery focuses on the IT systems responsible for supporting critical business functions. This is an extremely important part of business continuity. Data Resolution’s Disaster Recovery services help keep businesses running even in the event of a disaster.

Disaster Recovery is different than Backups, which are performed on a daily basis. While Backups allow for the instant restoral of documents, they do not facilitate failover of the entire IT environment.

Fast and Efficient Disaster Recovery

Data Resolution provides fast and efficient Disaster Recovery. Our services ensure that systems stay online and connected, preventing costly downtime and reducing the chance of data loss and security breaches.

We use a 3 PAR backend SAN at our datacenters. This allows us to maintain a strong Disaster Recovery model. We use VMware for virtualization, which allows for optimal performance and failover capacity. If a hard drive or server component fails in one of our facilities, our systems automatically failover to backup systems inside a single datacenter.

Data Resolution’s total failover time in the past twelve months has been as low as 150 milliseconds, or half a second. This is different than most SLAs, which call for a failover time of 60 seconds.

Data Resolution works directly with each of our clients to develop a solution, customized to their unique needs and requirements. Please contact us for more information about our Disaster Recovery services.
