Disaster

December 21, 2018 By Carol Scheafer

Understanding Disaster Recovery and its Impact on Your Business

When most people think of disasters they picture a catastrophic event such as a hurricane, tornado or earthquake. It’s important to remember that there are other types of disasters that can be just as damaging. These disasters can lead to the loss of data, money, and a company’s reputation.

In business, a disaster is any event that threatens an organization’s ability to complete certain tasks. such as problems with IT infrastructure. When systems go down, an organization is vulnerable to security threats, loss of information, and costly downtime.

Downtime caused by IT infrastructure issues can cost a lot of money. This is true even when issues are quickly resolved. When systems go down, staff must wait to complete normal tasks. Not only is the organization losing money paying these employees to wait, they also miss out on potentially profitable opportunities.

Disasters can strike at any time. It’s important that organizations do all they can to prepare for these events.

What is Disaster Recovery?

In the IT space, Disaster Recovery focuses on the IT systems responsible for supporting critical business functions. This is an extremely important part of business continuity. Data Resolution’s Disaster Recovery services help keep businesses running even in the event of a disaster.

Disaster Recovery is different than Backups, which are performed on a daily basis. While Backups allow for the instant restoral of documents, they do not facilitate failover of the entire IT environment.

Fast and Efficient Disaster Recovery

Data Resolution provides fast and efficient Disaster Recovery. Our services ensure that systems stay online and connected, preventing costly downtime and reducing the chance of data loss and security breaches.

We use a 3 PAR backend SAN at our datacenters. This allows us to maintain a strong Disaster Recovery model. We use VMware for virtualization, which allows for optimal performance and failover capacity. If a hard drive or server component fails in one of our facilities, our systems automatically failover to backup systems inside a single datacenter.

Data Resolution’s total failover time in the past twelve months has been as low as 150 milliseconds, or half a second. This is different than most SLAs, which call for a failover time of 60 seconds.

Data Resolution works directly with each of our clients to develop a solution, customized to their unique needs and requirements. Please contact us for more information about our Disaster Recovery services.
